When is Easter Sunday 2027?

Easter Sunday is the central day of the Easter weekend, between Good Friday and Easter Monday. Unlike Christmas, it does not have a fixed calendar date.

Its date follows the traditional Easter calculation: the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after 21 March. That places Easter Sunday between 22 March and 25 April.

Easter Sunday itself is not a bank holiday because it already falls on a Sunday. Good Friday is a bank holiday across the UK, while Easter Monday is a bank holiday in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Why the date moves

Because Easter follows a movable calculation, several other dates move with it. Pancake Day, Mothering Sunday, Good Friday and Easter Monday are all set in relation to Easter Sunday.

School spring holidays do not follow one national rule, so the school break and Easter weekend can line up differently from one area or year to another.
