When is Christmas 2026?
Christmas Day is always 25 December and is a bank holiday across the UK. For many people it is part of a longer break that also includes Boxing Day and the New Year period.
Boxing Day follows on 26 December. When either fixed-date holiday falls at a weekend, the official day off may move to a substitute weekday.
DAYREACH counts down to Christmas Day itself — 25 December. If you need the official substitute bank holiday dates for work or travel planning, use the current GOV.UK bank holiday list.
Christmas school holidays
Christmas school holidays are not fixed nationally in England. Local authorities, academy trusts and individual schools can publish different term dates, so check the School Holidays section for the area we cover and confirm important plans with the school itself.
