When is Bonfire Night 2026?

Bonfire Night, also known as Guy Fawkes Night, is always 5 November. It is commonly marked across the UK with organised fireworks displays and bonfires.

The date commemorates the failure of the Gunpowder Plot in 1605. It is not a public holiday, so work and school generally continue as normal.

Large public displays are sometimes scheduled for the nearest weekend rather than the evening of 5 November itself.

Local displays may use another night

Bonfire Night itself is fixed to 5 November, but councils, community groups and venues may hold their fireworks display on a nearby Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Check the organiser or local council for the date and entry arrangements of a specific event.
